María Patricia Tinajero holds a Ph.D. in Visual Art and Philosophy from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. Her scholarly work focuses on critically reassessing our comprehension of soil and plant life, highlighting their deep ethical and aesthetic importance across human and non-human domains. Her doctoral work on soil aesthetics: Becoming Soil: Five Contemporary Case Studies in Eco Materialism (On Art, Fermentation, and Soil Remediation) explores the aesthetic and ethical impacts of soil depletion as a direct consequence of correspondence to colonial models of exploitation and extraction.
